CONVENTION HIGHLIGHTS
Thursday – Start Convention Leadership Training with Building Bridges: Ten Strategies to Improve your PTA Today. Learn 10 quick and effective strategies to improve the effectiveness of your PTA. From strategic planning to family engagement, every school and PTA leader will learn how to lead crucial conversations that will have an impact today.
Don’t miss Convention Kick Off/Exhibitor Extravaganza with entertainment by Sheila Raye Charles. Take advantage of this exclusive time to meet exhibitors and discuss products and opportunities for your school community. Complimentary gourmet appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages will be served.
Friday – Let the 2012 Convention begin! Georgia PTA business will quickly be completed and followed by Dr. Martha Reichrath, Deputy State Superintendent, speaking about state initiatives to prepare college and career ready graduates. End the busy day at the banquet with inspiring awards and fellowship with statewide PTA leadership.
Saturday – We promise you will be wow’d, empowered, impressed and inspired. Hear our keynote speaker, Dr. Joseph B. Washington, share his set of proven principles with compelling anecdotes, adages and examples that reveal what happens when average people decide to be awesome.
Receive Dr. Washington’s book, Breaking the Spirit of Average, by being one of the first 25 to join the Early Morning Walk for Kids, Saturday, 6:15 am – 7:00 am.

The “NEW” PTA Membership Card will:
- Be printed on upgraded paper stock which will allow handwriting and ease of printing with most basic home printers;
- Be produced as four (4) cards per 8.5 x 11 sheet;
- Include fields for member name, local PTA unit name, membership year, and local unit ID number;
- Include both the National PTA Logo and the State PTA Logo;
- Include multiple colors and graphics enhancing PTA’s visual image;
- Include a ‘carrier’ that messages the benefits of membership and explains the activation process;
- Remind members they are a member of their local unit, State PTA and National PTA;
- Contain a unique member ID number which must be used to activate the card.
The Card activation process will:
- Provide a way for National PTA to collect contact information from members which will be shared with State PTAs;
- Require minimal demographic information from members who choose to activate, other fields will be optional;
- Be accessible online or by phone.
The Card activation process will not:
- Collect dues dollars;
- Affect the normal State PTA card distribution process;
- Affect member benefits at the state and local level;
- Exclude members who do not have an email address.

Georgia PTA Dues Increase
On July 15, 2011 Georgia PTA convention delegates approved a fifty cents ($.50) increase to raise Georgia PTA’s portion of the member fees from $1.00 to $1.50. The increase is effective July 1, 2012, raising Georgia PTA’s portion of membership dues to $1.50. Click here to read what this means to your PTA.
